Alltech honors Equine Hero Felicity Wells of the UK

Few stories are as inspirational as those about true friendship, particularly when that friendship empowers someone to overcome significant challenges. Throw a horse into the story’s plot, and the impact becomes that much greater for those in the global equestrian community.

Alltech honors Equine Hero Felicity Wells of the UK

As part of Alltech’s Equine Heroes campaign to celebrate those behind-the-scenes who make sacrifices for love of the horse, Para-Dressage rider Amanda Shirtcliffe nominated her friend, Felicity Wells of the United Kingdom, as an Equine Hero.

Amanda was diagnosed last year with an incurable neurological movement disorder that left her with limited use of her limbs, and thus no longer able to ride or care for her horses. Everything changed last December, however, when she met Felicity. Felicity encouraged her to get back into the saddle on Felicity’s own trusty steed, Milly.

Three months later, with Felicity’s encouragement, Amanda won the Para Talent Development British Dressage Championship.“Felicity is an absolute legend for selflessly lending me her horse while also coaching, chauffeuring and grooming for me at all of my events,” said Amanda. “Without Felicity, I doubt I would be riding, let alone winning at national championships. This woman has done so much for me, all without reward or payment. I can’t thank her enough for getting me back into the saddle and giving me back my life.”

Congratulations to Felicity Wells of the United Kingdom, an Equine Hero for illustrating the power of friendship !

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, not the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with a friendship”. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
