It was a very special Monday morning for Fabienne Lütkemeier from Germany and her mount D’Agostino FRH. They were the first competitors of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games  2014 in Normandy, entering the arena at D’Ornano Stadium in Caen for dressage at 8.00 in the morning.

The six judges gave them a score of 73,586 percent  for their performance.

Lütkemeier on drawing number 1 in the starting order: “Somebody has to do it. It was not so bad. But getting up at 5 was somewhat grueling.”

On the atmosphere in the stadium: “It is quite a bright light in there. But we had a good preparation yesterday when there were even people to operate the cameras for making everything as realistic as possible for today.”

On her ride: “At the first corner D’Agostino was a bit spooky but then he relaxed. We had a mistake in the flying changes. That was a pity. But the pirouettes were better than expected. I am quite satisfied.”
