Only 500 days before the show begins !

On Monday 8 April, the Normandy 2014 Organising Committee invited journalists and the event’s partners to a landmark press conference to celebrate the symbolic 500-day countdown to the start of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy. This countdown was the occasion to launch the volunteer programme, to inaugurate Alltech’s new offices in Caen, to announce a new partnership with Crédit Agricole Normandie, and to reveal Norman - the Games’ official mascot !

This press conference was a great opportunity to inaugurate Alltech’s new office located in the city centre of Caen since representatives from 23 countries where Alltech is implanted attended the event. Dr. Pearse Lyons, president of Alltech, recalled the strategic importance of Alltech’s presence in Normandy, and highlighted the region’s dynamism and great potential.

Laurent Beauvais, President of the Organizing Committee Normandy 2014, then announced the new partnership with Crédit Agricole Normandie, which becomes the Official Banking and Insurance Partner of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy.  A partnership highlighting once again, the involvement of the local businesses towards our event.

An involvement that will go crescendo from now on since this press conference also launched the "Club Normandie 2014" : a Club whose purpose is to gather and mobilize 2014 companies that will give time and energy to help the Games and the local territory shine to the world.

On the mobilization front once again, Fabien Grobon, CEO of the Organizing Committee, also announced that a recruitment portal will be going live as today (Wednesday, April 10th) in order to mobilise 3,000 volunteers from all walks of life. This programme will be open to anyone of 18 and over (as of May 31 2014) as long as those peopleagree to give some of their time to help the1,000 competitors and horses wow the expected 500,000 visitors during the 15 days of competition from 23 August to 7 September 2014 (you can find all the information on our website http://www.alltechfeiweg2014-normandy.com/volunteers).

A first volunteer actually made a sensational appearance at the conference: Norman the Games’ official mascot! Arrived unannounced to the sound of "Happy" by C2C, Norman gave everyone a show by coming up on stage in the middle of the event! Norman will be the Games’ most fervent supporter and will motivate the 1000 Games competitors and horses to vibrate 500,000 spectators expected during the Games!

At the end of the conference, all attendees were invited to go outside to cut the ribbon symbolizing Alltech’s official arrival in Caen. This also was the occasion to organise a quick photo-shoot with our official mascot and exchange around a buffet of little chocolate Normans and a beer imagined by Dr. Pearse Lyons.
