Eventing leader is a local horse!

Hailing from right here in the Calvados department, Opgun Louvo, is currently sitting atop the leader board in the Eventing competition.

Eventing leader is a local horse!

Ridden by Germany’s Sandra Auffarth, the local Selle Français turned in the best Dressage performance and is leading the overall contest going into the cross-country portion. Opgun Louvo was born at Yves Berlioz’s stable, in the town of Molay-Littry, in the Calvados department, about a dozen kilometres from Caen.

Opgun Louvo was sired by Shogoun II and his maternal grandfather was J'T'adore, two stallions who were ridden by Eric Navet, a former World Champion and ambassador to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014™ in Normandy. The mare’s side of Opgun Louvo’s family also features many winning racehorses and jumpers.

With Sandra Auffarth, Opgun Louvo won the bronze medal in the individual event at the London Games and silver at the European Championships in Luhmühlen. This time around could gold be in the offing? It may not be over yet, but the pair is off to an ideal start!
