FEI Nations Cup : Switzerland dominates in Lummen


Switzerland won this week-end the first stage of the FEI Nations Cup Division 1, held in Lummen (Belgium). France, the defending champions, finished second with 4 points. Belgium and Ireland were tied at the third spot.

Swiss riders were set like clocks last week-end ! In fact, since the top three scores are counted, the 2012 Olympic Steve Guerdat did not have to leave the stables to enter the track or in the first or second round ! Pius Schwizer signed two perfect rounds with Toulago. A performance repeated by his teammates Romain Duguet on Quorida of Treho and Paul Estermann saddle on Castelfield Eclipse .

The French hoped to go to the playoffs, but Penelope Leprévost and Banshee van Arenberg knocked down a bar in the 2nd course. Defending champion France still proved that they were in great shape this season, with a second place finish and double clear performed by Norman rider Aymeric de Ponnat on Armitages Boy. Kevin Staut on Dreamer Hurtebise HDC and Jerome Hurel on Red Quartz finished with 4 points. Belgium, which made ​​its debut in Division 1, and Ireland finished tied at the third spot.

The next round of the FEI Nations Cup Division 1 will be held in La Baule (France) on 15-18 May. A good opportunity to win some points for the Finals that will be held in Barcelona from 9 to 12 October.
