Reining: Reiners take a day off in Normandy

The Reining Team Competition and 1st individual qualifier at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy provided excitement on the stands of the Park Expo arena in the first two days of competition.  Yesterday, the first FEI medals were awarded. Team USA has claimed reining gold since the sport joined the FEI World Equestrian Games in 2002 and this year Andrea Fappani, Mandy McCutcheon, Shawn Flarida and Jordan Larson continued that tradition, winning over Belgium, who also took team silver in 2010. Austria, for the first time in the history of the Games, took team bronze.

The first 20 riders (plus ties) qualified for the Individual Competition which will be held on Saturday at 8 pm.  The next 20 scores (plus ties) are eligible for the 2nd Individual Qualifying Competition which will be held tomorrow at 2 pm.  The first five placed horse-rider combinations (plus ties), will also be vying for the Individual FEI medals on Saturday.
