Xavier Libbrecht, ambassador for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy :
Xavier Libbrecht is a French equestrian journalist. He has worked for the famous L’Equipe daily, and is the current Editor-in-chief of L’Eperon magazine.
He was one of the first equestrian specialists to understand the necessity for a structure to oversee sport horse studbooks. Naturally, when the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) was created, Libbrecht was instrumental in its development thanks to his public relations expertise and press contacts. From 1990 to 1998, he served as the organisation’s secretary general. In 1995, he was nominated president of the French association of equestrian press (APEF), and in 2008, he was elected as an honorary member of the WBFSH for his involvement in the Federation.
In 1998, Libbrecht bought the Haras du Bout du Haut stud farm. He subscribes to a more traditional view of equestrian sports, where disciplines are not so strictly separated, and seeks to breed a more complete horse. This view led him to breed purebred mares with sport stallions to produce more well-rounded horses. With time, he began breeding race and endurance horses to diversify the horses produced on his farm.
We are pleased to welcome Xavier Libbrecht, an all-round equestrian specialist as rider, journalist and breeder, to the Ambassadors Committee.
