Exhibition Centre, 1 year on: the work continues!
On 12 March 2013, after unprecedented snowfall, the roof of the Exhibition Centre collapsed under the weight of all the snow.
Since then, the City of Caen’s teams have been working tirelessly to rebuild the great hall of the Exhibition Centre. This huge project will be finished in time to host the Games Village of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ between 23 August and 7 September 2014.
The work started last September. The aim was to modernise the venue: new metallic structure, respect of new safety standards, glass wall on the main façade, etc. The total cost of the project is 13.86 million Euros, principally financed by insurance (13.46 million Euros). This new hall, which will be more comfortable and safer, is part of a wider-reaching project that includes landscaping the outdoor areas of the centre (planting trees, creating pathways, etc.).
