Jérôme Garcin, ambassador for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy :
Born on 4 October 1956, Jérôme Garcin is a journalist and writer. Author of around twenty novels and essays, for which he received the Prince Pierre de Monaco award in 2008 and the Grand Prix Henri-Gal from the Académie Française in 2013, he shares his time between Paris and Normandy.
He was Managing Editor of L’Événement du jeudi (1989-1994) and editor-in-chief at L’Express (1994 to 1996). Today, he is Executive Manager of the Nouvel Observateur and, since 1989, has produced and presented France’s longest-running radio programme, Le Masque et la Plume on France Inter. He is also a member of the jury for the Prix Renaudot.
Through his writing, he lifts the lid on his private life: the intense memory of his father, who died after falling from a horse, and of Olivier, his late twin brother, his love and admiration for his wife Anne-Marie, daughter of actor Gérard Philipe. A great horse lover, Jérôme Garcin lives out his passion for equestrianism in the heart of Normandy’s Pays d’Auge, which is also where he writes his books, many of which are about horses: La chute de cheval, Cavalier Seul, Bartabas roman, L’Ecuyer mirobolant, Galops, etc.
