Dressage and Jumping Test Events - June 2014 - D'Ornano Stadium

The Normandie 2014 Organising Committee organized two test events from 23 to 26 June 2014 in d'Ornano Stadium (Caen) :

These 2 test events were listed as official competitions on the national and international calendar, as any other official competition labelled by the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI). However, as in the 3 test events organised in August 2013, these tests were not a rehearsal of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy, but a competition enabling the Normandy 2014 Organizing Committee to adjust its choices in order to be ready on the D-DAY (August 23rd).

EVENTING CCI** IN LE PIN NATIONAL STUD & CAEN : 16-18 August 2013

This competition was organised in a similar way to next year’s event, since the Dressage and Cross country phases took place at Le Pin National Stud (Orne) Panizzone - test eventand the Jumping was held in Caen (Calvados) (the only difference being that the jumping will be held in the SHUC instead of the Ornano Stadium).

The 50 competitors therefore had the opportunity to ride part of the Le Pin National Stud’s brand new cross country course, which was inaugurated in July 2013. Italian rider Vittoria Panizzon won the competition on Merlots Magic : “I’m really delighted. I had never been to Le Pin National Stud before and I really liked the setting as well as the course. I’m sure that the Games will be watched by many people next year. And if we can benefit from the same support and the same atmosphere as last year at the London Olympics, it will be fantastic”.

DRIVING CAI-A4 IN CAEN: 23-25 August 2013

Weber - test eventThe 20 drivers and 100 horses present tried out the new dirt surface, which was tested in June and is more resistant than grass, regardless of the atmospheric conditions. World number 1 Chester Weber won the competition, and said this footing could become the future of Driving: “I was really impressed by the competition venue. There is nothing better than bringing sport to the people, so I’m really happy that the event took place here, in the centre of Caen. I was very impressed with the surface too. You can tell that the organisers have worked really hard on it”.
